A Tale of Two Kittens

A picture of Misti and Rocki as Korats

My Korats Misti and Rocki

Misti and Rocki were my much loved Korats. Misti came to live with me in the fall of 1999 as a very sick seven month old kitten. She recovered and went on to “grand” as a premier in 2000. Rocki joined us in early 2000 as a 7 year old retired queen. She and Misti were totally bonded and I later learned that Rocki was Misti’s grandmother.

Misti made her transition in February 2010. She had told me that her purpose with me was to teach me to play. When she died she said she was not finished and she would be back.

One year to the day after Misti transitioned, Rocki became very ill and she made her transition a few weeks later. She had told me her purpose was to teach me love and she too said she was not finished and would be back.

When these two beautiful souls were in spirit they were together. They were soul mates and never wanted to be separated again. They made their plans to return as kittens in the same litter. They told me they would return as shelter cats since they knew I loved to work with the cats at the Pet Placement Center.

In early March 2013 I asked Val Heart, my Animal Communication teacher,  mentor and very good friend, to check in with them and ask what their plans were. Val said “They are on the way!” They shared that their mom cat’s due date was late April, that they would not be born at the shelter but would turn up there in late May or Early June. They would not tell us anything else. When asked what kind of cat they would be, what color etc they just said it was a surprise.

Cleopatra the kittens new Mom Cat

Shortly after that I heard of a pregnant cat who was on the way to the Pet Placement Center (PPC). I went in to meet her thinking she might just be the one. She was a beautiful cat and extremely loving. She pushed her head into my hand and purred. I thought she was just that loving but later learned that she had not been that way with anyone else.

My sense was that this was the one. I certainly wanted her to be the mom cat because she is so beautiful and such a wonderful cat.

She went into foster care later that day to live with her foster mom and dad until her kittens were born and old enough to leave their mom. She was named Cleopatra and I was told that the kittens would have Egyptian names as well.

In early April I asked Val to check with the kittens again and to find out if she was in fact the mom. And the answer was yes! I had found my kittens. Val said that they were very busy making kitten bodies – they said it was hard work – and did not have much to say to us that day.

In early May I asked Val to check with them again and she said they were very active and healthy. She sensed that there were two other siblings one of which was weak and might be “unsouled” and could be still born. Again she was right. There were two other siblings one of which was born very small and did not make it.

My first picture of the kittens was a video clip taken shortly after they were born on April 29th, 2013. My sense was that the two buff kittens were my girls and the little grey tabby a male kitten. Please click the link to see a video of Cleopatra and her New Born Kittens. The kittens were named Nefertiti, Isis and Osiris and I was right that the grey striped kitty is a male and the two buff kittens are females. They were my much loved Korats reincarnated as two little kittens.

I received an update from Crystal, their foster mom,  when the kittens were one week old.

The one week old kittens at the milk bar

“The babies are doing very well. They are just now starting to get their seal point color in now at 1 week old. Their weights are all around 8 oz. It looks like one of the girls will have white feet and the other girl will have seal point colored feet.”

Isis is the the one with the colored feet and Nefertiti is the one with white feet.

I look forward to meeting them in person so I can be sure which kittens are my Rocki and Misti come back to live with me again. I am so excited that I’m going to have my two much loved Rocki and Misti back with me in different kitten bodies and with new names.

I visited the kittens for the first time on May 10. They are not quite two weeks old yet and don’t have their eyes open. The girls are showing points on their ears and their faces and I think they will look a lot like the mom cat. I was able to hold the kittens and pet Cleopatra who was very sweet and loving. She is a good mom and the kittens are doing well. I look forward to seeing them again when they are a little older so I can get to know them a bit better.

Update May 29. Isis transitioned on May 27. She was one of my cats but her little body was weak and she could not heal it. In a very generous step, the original soul in the little tabby male body offered to leave and allow her to take his body.. This is what happened. So now the male kitten is the spirit that was previously known as Rocki and the surviving female kitten the spirit that was previously known as Misti. In a very powerful conference with Val on June 5 we observed a ceremony in which the original soul departed and the soul that had been Isis took possession of the male kitten body.

Update June 3. The kittens named Nefertiti and Osiris have been sick but were treated and are better now. The vet has said that they need to remain with their Mom Cat until they are 12 weeks old so they can catch up – they lost weight and lost ground in their development when they were so sick.

Below are more pictures of these two kittens. They were about 4 weeks old when these pictures and the video were taken.

On June 22 the kittens visited during a Reiki I Workshop. Below are some pictures taken during their visit.

Update December 29, 2013. On July 1, 2013 the kittens came home with me.They were 9 weeks old at the time. Today they are 8 months old and nearly full size physically but still all kitten. They are into everything and lots of fun to watch.

missy & rockThis picture below was made last October. As you can see, they do not look at all alike and it is difficult to bebelieve that they are litter mates.

I just love having them with me. They are wonderful cats and it is interesting how much they remember from their previous lives as Korats. They were never strangers here – they knew right where to find the food dish and their litter box. And they show some traits not typical for cats.

My Korat Misti taught me to play fetch. She would bring a toy for me to throw, chase it, and then bring it back to throw again. Missy remembered the game and we’ve had many rousing games of fetch.

My Korat Rocki was very friendly. When students were here she would go from one to the other for some lap time. Roxy does the same thing. Actually both of them have been very friendly always and instead of running to hide when someone comes to the door they run to the door to greet them.

  1. Oh Margaret, this is such wonderful news to have these wonderful spirits back with you. I can’t wait to meet them, too! Much love and Reiki to you and Nefertiti and Isis.

  2. Awww thanks for sharing your story Margaret! Will be fun to watch them grow! Hopefully you will be able to keep in contact with Osiris’s new adopted family. Please keep us updated! Joy :o)

  3. I met them for the first time this afternoon. They are not quite two weeks old yet and don’t have their eyes open but the are adorable. The girls are developing points so will look like mom cat.

  4. Sorry to hear about Isis but glad for little boy kitty! Wow that happened so fast! Please keep us all updated! Joy

  5. Thanks everyone for your interest and your comments. I plan to visit the kittens again tomorrow, Friday. I’ll let you know how it goes and hopefully I’ll have some new pictures soon. I sense that the grey striped male kitten is the soul that was Rocki and the remaining female kitten that looks like Mom is the soul that was Misty. This is based on their developing personalities. Margaret

  6. I just updated this article. The kittens are home with me now. They came to me on July 1 when they were 9 weeks old. They are wonderful! They are very active as kittens should be and love to sleep with me at night or in my lap during the day.

They obviously remembered a lot – they were not in a new place, they were home!
