Reiki Chattanooga offers Reiki workshops in the traditional Japanese branch of Reiki called Usui Reiki Ryoho. Reiki I, II and III are now based on this philosophy and are called by the Japanese names Shoden, Okuden, and Shinpiden. Please visit the Events page for the current schedule.
Shoden is a Japanese word meaning ‘first teachings’. These are the first teachings of the system of Reiki. In our practical Shoden courses you will learn how to help yourself with a daily healing practice and how you can also help your friends and family including your animals using Japanese healing techniques.
Prerequisite: A desire to learn Reiki.

Additional Information about Shoden
Okuden is a Japanese word meaning ‘inner teachings’. As the word implies, a deeper understanding and connection to Usui Mikao’s teachings is achieved during this course. Utilizing Japanese principles, this level teaches how to connect to Earth and Heaven energy; the first steps to becoming fully integrated with the universe. This is achieved through the practice of shirushi (symbols) and jumon (mantras). This level will also support you in becoming a professional Reiki practitioner if that is your interest.
Prerequisite: Shoden (Level I Reiki) or Reiki I from a qualified Reiki teacher.
Tuition: $450
Additional information about Okuden
Shinpiden is the Japanese word for ‘mystery teachings’. It is aimed at Level II practitioners or established Reiki Teachers who wish to continue their personal journey, a journey that is ongoing long after you complete the Shinpiden course. It is therefore not just about teaching and is even suitable for those who wish to simply develop their personal Reiki practice and occasionally teach.
Prerequisite: Shoden (Level I Reiki) and Okuden (Level II Reiki) or Reiki I and II from a qualified Reiki teacher.
Tuition: $1050
Additional Information about Shinpiden
Animal Reiki is included in Shoden and Okuden because Reiki is such a perfect modality for working with animals. It is non-intrusive and most animals recognize the spiritual energy and love it. In Shoden you learn to offer Reiki to animals in person and in Okuden you learn to offer Reiki to animals remotely. Margaret occasionally offers an Animal Reiki Workshop which is a one day Reiki introduction focused on Animal Reiki for those who want to offer Reiki to animals but are not interested in taking the full Shoden workshop.

All workshops and teleconferences are presented by Margaret Dexter, Reiki Teacher, Animal Reiki Teacher and Animal Communicator. Workshops are offered in the Chattanooga area – details when you register. Teleconferences are phone calls – dial in information when you register.
Students who have taken Shoden or Okuden with me may resit the class they have taken for $50, no manuals included, on a space available basis. Students who have taken Shinpiden with me may resit Shoden and/or Okuden as well. Resits may purchase a manual if they wish.
