Looking Back at 2013 and before
As this year draws to a close, I am looking back at the year that was. The first of my year had a lot to do with cats. This time last year I was fostering a beautiful little cat named Linde. She was in renal failure and was with me for hospice care. For much of the time she was here it was difficult to believe that she was so sick and I had the pleasure of her company. Then in February she rapidly deteriorated physically and I had the honor of supporting her as she made her transition.
In March my beloved Korats Misti and Rocki said that they were on their way back to me – they were in utero and would be born in late April. They were born April 29 in a foster home. As I waited for them to be old enough to leave their kitty mom and come to live with me, I offered to foster again. I have written their story in the article The Tale of Two Kittens so will not repeat it here.
Next came another foster: Samuel aka Sammie. He is a beautiful cat who had lost everything: his home, his human mom, his cat mom and his two cat siblings. He was at the shelter alone and did not understand why. He was with me for just over 3 weeks as he learned to trust me and sit in my lap and become again the loving cat he was. He went from my home to his new forever home with his new human mom who reports that he has adjusted well and is happy again.
My kittens came to live with me 3 days before Sammie went to his new home so for 3 days I had two little kittens and one very large cat. I now have my two kittens Roxy and Missy who are 8 months old today. Physically they are nearly grow – they have gotten bit especially Roxy. But inside they are still all kitten and into everything. They are among the most wonderful things I remember from 2013.
In October I had a stroke. I went from the ER to the hospital to a rehab center and finally back home in November. Although most certainly not an experience I would wish to repeat, there was much good in it as well.
I was totally amazed at the many people who came forward to help me. Locally friends from the Pet Placement Center where I volunteer and from Unity of Chattanooga where I am a member provided physical support including taking me to the ER and washing my clothes and bringing me things while I was in rehab. One very good friend drove hours to spend one day with me bringing me a much needed call phone and blood pressure monitor and taking me out to lunch.
I set my intention to heal completely and quickly and I did. Most of the time now I forget I ever had a stroke and know I am healthier than ever and fully intend to continue to experience better and better health.
I taught a number of Reiki Workshops last year and enjoyed working with a number of Reiki and Akashic Record Clients. This is what I love doing and thank my many students and clients for the role they play in my life. I look forward to more and more as I do the work I know I am here to do.
Today I had the opportunity to look even further back and then look ahead. I watched an episode of Oprah’s Soul Sunday in which she interviewed Maryanne Williamson and discussed her teachings from a Course in Miracles which was the first spiritual book I read back in the mid 80s. It was a powerful awakening for me and served as a bridge from the Judeo Christian belief system of my childhood into new thought.
This afternoon I was on a powerful teleconference call with Jennifer McLean and Kenji Kumara. They said that for those of us who have read thousands of books it is time to put all of that aside because times are different now and it’s not reading books anymore. It is time to put the books aside and pass them on to those who have not read yet and move into a different reality. Today’s call is the first of a series of 3 calls entitled “Prepare for 2014.” This is a free series available to everyone. You can listen to a download of today’s call and participate in the calls tomorrow and the next day. Sign up at Masterworks Healing.
I hope you have enjoyed my journey back through 2013 and before and encourage you to take the time to look back at your life last year.
What will 2014 bring? That is up to you. It is time to set our intention for 2014 and Beyond. I’ll look ahead to 2014 in my next blog.
